Reigning Mutya ng Cotabato conducts Feeding Program and Operation Tuli

DSC_00232014 Mutya ng Cotabato Ferdausiah B. Juanday proves she does not only have a pretty face but a beautiful heart as well as she initiated the conduct of a feeding program for malnourished children and operation tuli at Barangay Poblacion 4, this city.

With the help of the barangay officials and the members of the SHAHECA Club, the activities were able to cater to 72 patients and feed 60 children.

Conduct of Diskwento Caravan, successful.

IMG_0111The City Government of Cotabato, together with its partners from the Department of Trade and Industry, has successfully conducted the Diskwento Caravan last May 8-10.

Several establishments in the city participated in the caravan and displayed their low-priced merchandise at the city plaza. Most of these products are school and office supplies, just in time for the opening of classes this June.

Cotabato City bags another award as it landed on the country's Top 3 on the 2014 Search for the Most Child-Friendly Cities and Municipalities in the Independent Component Cities category.

This recognition is given to local government units all over the Philippines who have exerted outstanding efforts in taking care of the youth and children sector, promoting their rights and privileges, and uplifting their status in life.

City Mayor to Illegal Vendors: Vacate the sidewalks!

IMG_0149City Mayor Japal J. Guiani, Jr. headed the demolition of illegal stalls and other structures on the sidewalks along the Megamarket area, Thursday morning.

This operation, in coordination with the Traffic Management Unit and the City Engineering Office, is made after vendors did not heed the warnings given by the city government that they must find a stall inside the megamarket or their stalls will be demolished.

City Government declares State of Calamity in Drought stricken villages

IMG_0474The Sangguniang Panlungsod puts 19 barangays in Cotabato City under the State of Calamity after being heavily affected by the dry spell.

The barangays include Tamontaka and Kalanganan where majority of the farm lands and fishponds are located. As of today, farming has been stopped and most of the fish ponds are drying up resulting to very low production.
